Can I set a maximum character limit for translations, for the whole project or for individual keys?
You can set it only per key, not for the whole project. When you create a source key, either manually in the UI or through the API, you can define a maximum character count for its translations. Localazy flags any translation that exceeds this count as invalid, so translators and reviewers catch it before it ships.
This setting accepts character counts only. Add it when you create a source key in the UI through the Update source key API endpoint, or as limit metadata during an API import. It isn’t available during a file-based batch import: set it afterward through the UI or API instead.
This per-key setting is separate from Localazy’s general recommendation for source text size (keeping each string under 4kB for compatibility with some translation engines). That recommendation covers the practical size of your source content; this setting is a limit you define for translators to follow.
