Import & Export

The Import & Export page lists the collections configured for localization and lets you synchronize content between Directus and Localazy. New to Directus content localization? Start with Directus’ content translation guide.

Collections overview & options #️⃣

Translatable collections are listed in a hierarchy that mirrors your collection structure. Select whole collections or individual fields for import & export. Use Select all (top left) to select everything.

By default, only translatable fields (string inputs) are shown. Open Options (top right) to Show untranslatable fields or to list collections without any translatable fields.

Search #️⃣

Use the search box to filter the tree by collection or field name. Matching a collection reveals its whole subtree, so you can quickly narrow a large data model to the part you want to sync.

Incremental vs. full sync #️⃣

Both directions run incrementally by default — only content that changed since the last run is transferred, which keeps repeated syncs fast.

  • Export to Localazy pushes changed items. The dropdown next to it offers Full Upload (re-push everything).
  • Import to Directus pulls changes published in Localazy. The dropdown offers Full Sync (rebuild from scratch).

Use the Full variants to force a complete re-transfer (for example after changing settings that affect what gets uploaded).

Export content to Localazy #️⃣

Select at least one field and click Export to Localazy. A progress modal reports the export progress. If there’s nothing new to send, the plugin tells you everything is already up to date.

Import content to Directus #️⃣

Select at least one field and click Import to Directus. A progress modal reports the import progress. The Import button is temporarily disabled while another sync holds the lock (for example an automated import in progress).

Translation strings #️⃣

Directus translation strings can be synchronized alongside collection content from this page.

Last sync #️⃣

A banner near the top links to the most recent sync session on the Activity page, so you can jump straight to what happened last.

Save synchronization fields #️⃣

Your current field selection is stored automatically when you start an Export or Import. To save the selection without running a sync, click Save.
